Notes:

1. A standard signage of 0.3m

2

, 5kg and 2,500mm above ground level has been taken into account in the calculations. Columns or rows with values in bracket, ( ) denotes the maximum wind area, m

2

allowed with the standard signage removed.

2. All aluminium columns are designed to the European Standard BS EN40 which meets the requirements in the UK. Column capacities are provided in relation to Rationalised Wind Loading Regions and

Factors. These are defined in the EN40-3-3 Design and Verification by Calculations by the British Standards Institute (BSI) and the PD6547: 2004 National Application Document. From EN40, default

values of Terrain Category have been used, columns under 8m use Terrain Category III and columns 8m and above use Terrain Category II with a maximum site altitude of 250m from sea level.

3. Advice will be required if the location of the installation is:

Closer than 5km from the coast

Situated at an altitude greater than 250m from sea level

Subject to significant wind funnelling

Within the Shetland, Western Isles of Orkney administrative area.

4. All calculations have been completed assuming a design life of 50 years as opposed to the industry standard of 25 years.
