Feeds and connectors are effectively
the terminal block that provides power
to the track. There are six ‘feedable’
connectors: initial and central feed,
plus the ‘T’, ‘L’, ‘X’ and flex connectors.
You cannot ‘feed’ into the straight
connector and coupler.
The internal wiring design allows
for easy ‘feed in’, because the
connecting wires are soldered to the
side of the screw grub.
As mentioned the straight connector
and coupler are not ‘feedable’.
Although similar in design they
perform different functions. The straight
connector has electrical contacts
whereas the coupler doesn’t, it merely
mechanically connects two tracks
together. Both items connect track units
without a gap.
If a coupler is used then the following
section of track must have its own live
feed for electrical connection purposes.
For example where the maximum
electrical load is exceeded or where
luminaries are required to be switched/
dimmed with a different circuit.
